Apartment Finders Service - Austin, Texas

I was living in a house, near campus, with graduation upon me. My roommate and I were so busy with finals and job interviews that neither of us had much time to spend looking for a place to live, and our current lease was about to end. We went through approximately three weeks of looking at apartments that were within our budget. We knew that we both wanted to remain in a central location, as we still had many friends on campus, and everything in that area is so convenient. So we looked and looked and looked for a new apartment, but never found one. Then we found an ad in the Statesman with the website for an apartment in an area we were interested in, for a price that caught our attention. That same day, we met with a leasing agent, Sunday, at Apartment Finders Service, and she drove us in her car to look at the property. We were attached to the new place right from the beginning, but we told Sunday that we still wanted some time to think.

A couple of days went by before we asked to have a second look at the apartment. So Sunday loaded us up in her car again and drove us to the complex. Still, the place was much nicer than anything else we had looked at on our own. Everything we had seen was typically over-priced and in unenviable condition. This apartment, however, was perfect for us.

We signed the lease with the apartment manager the next day. When Sunday called later that day to see if we wanted to look at some other properties, we told her the good news, that she had already helped us find the one we wanted.

I decided to move to Austin after receiving a federal grant to do post-doctoral work at the University of Texas. At the time, I was living in Tel Aviv, Israel, with my wife and four children. I first contacted Apartment Finders Service when I saw their website. I also learned that they were the oldest locator service in Austin, so I decided to go through them. I submitted the rental form and waited for a reply, which came as email the next day.

The leasing agent who contacted me was named Cathy, and she took special interest in my unique situation. Cathy and I began working together immediately to find my family a suitable place to live. This process was made much simpler by our use of email correspondences. I cannot imagine how long it might have taken or how expensive the process may have been, were we forced to communicate with one another over the phone or by post. I was just happy they were able to save me so much time and money.

I gave specific details to Cathy regarding what my family was looking for, as I would have to rely upon her judgment in finding us a home. I would not be coming to America until the start of the new semester. So I put my trust completely in her, which would turn out to be a wise decision.

I took Cathy’s word on her recommendation for a home she said would suit us just fine. So I flew overseas with my family without even having seen the house. When we finally came to Texas, everything worked out perfectly. Our house was everything Cathy said it would be, and more.
